Recently, in Huaihong Village, Baipeng Town, Liujiang District, Liuzhou City, lotus flowers bloomed in large lotus ponds, and farmers were busy harvesting lotus roots beside the green leaves. A nearby cooperative was filled with freshly harvested lotus roots, which were weighed, cleaned, trimmed, and sorted before being packed into cartons. These neatly packaged lotus roots were then loaded onto refrigerated trucks and transported to Shenzhen for export to various parts of the world by sea.
According to the cooperative’s head, the cooperative exports lotus roots to Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the United States, and other regions through collaboration with third-party trading companies, shipping about 8 tons daily, with an expected export volume of over 300 tons this year. This spring, Baipeng Town in Liujiang District planted approximately 21,000 mu of lotus roots. The extensive lotus ponds in the town have abundant water sources and fertile soil, producing lotus roots that are white as jade, large, tender, renowned nationwide and exported overseas.
