Recently, the sugar orange base, which is located in Sancuntun, Si’an Village, Tubo Town, Liujiang District, has entered into the picking period of sugar oranges. As far as the eye can see, villagers are found busy picking oranges in the groves.

According to Wei Hanning, deputy secretary of Si’an Village’s Party branch, even though the price of sugar orange is lower than that of slithery-skin kumquat and crispy sweet kumquat, there can be a high yield of it through scientific planting and maintenance, with an income of 10 thousand yuan per mu. In recent years, Si’an Village has taken advantage of the mode of “company + cooperative + farmer” and its rich natural resources to vigorously develop the planting of special and quality fruits while preserving its clear waters and verdant mountains. At present, Si’an Village has 8 groups of villagers and 534 households of farmers. They have planted over 3,000 mu of sugar oranges in total, with each household planting over 5 mu on average and some households over 30 mu. Their annual income ranges from about 50 thousand yuan to 400 thousand yuan.
